London Marathon 2016

For the last two years Adam Mansfield, Rhia O’Reilly and Stephen Docherty have been raising awareness and money for some great charitable causes on behalf of the Charity Wrestling Alliance.

Today, 10 children and young people in the U.K will hear the shocking news that they have Cancer.

This year they will be running in support of Clic Sargent.   Clic Sargent is the U.K’s leading childrens Cancer charity, providing support for the whole family during the heartbreak and hardship they endure in their time of need.  We hope to raise as much money as possible for this very worthwhile charity.

This will be Adam Mansfields third London marathon, in which he hopes to beat his times from the two previous years.

Stephen Docherty in his second London marathon will be joined by his twin brother and tag team partner Gary Docherty in what will be Gary’s fist time in this prestigious event.

Rhia O’Reilly will be running for the second time in the London marathon, however Rhia has been taking part in various half marathons over the last year and is training hard for this grueling 26 mile race.

Please visit our fundraising page and give what you can to help us give these kids their best chance.  Thank you .

Also another member of the CWA roster Jezabeth will be running independently in her first London marathon in support of Children with Cancer U.K .

We here at Charity Wrestling Alliance wish all of our runners the best of luck and good health as they take on the historical 26 mile course through the streets of London.  Also a massive heartfelt thank you for taking part on our behalf and helping us continue to support great charitable causes.  We are incredibly proud of you all.

Well done Adam and Rhia

This past Sunday almost 38000 people took part in one of the most historical sporting events in our countries long and illustrious history.  Each running for friends and family, raising huge amounts of money and awareness for countless charities and good causes.  Among those 37000+ were Adam Mansfield and Rhia O’Reilly, running on behalf of the Charity Wrestling Alliance in support of Cancer Research U.K and the Lymphoma association.  These charities are very important to Adam and Rhia.

Close friend of Adam and Rhia, a much loved and very well respected British Wrestler Kris Travis is currently recovering from stomach cancer.   Kris is one of the best, most exciting and entertaining wrestlers around today, we wish him all the best with his recovery and can’t wait to see him back in action.

Stew Allen who was a huge part of British wrestling, in particular his work with Female Wrestling, is very close to the hearts of many within the wrestling scene.  Sadly Stew passed away after a long battle with lymphoma, Rhia dedicated her run to his memory.

rhiaolisandlerpic

Running on an injured ankle, suffered during a match earlier in the week, Rhia showed why she is one of the toughest most determined wrestlers around.  Her moniker of “Fighting Irish” was never more evident as she endured the pain throughout the full 26.2 miles of London, to complete the marathon in 5:44:25.

This was Adam’s second London marathon, running last year for the National Autistic Society.  Adam was happy with crossing the finish line last year, but surprised himself even further this year as he smashed his previous time, completing the grueling 26.2 mile course in 4:49:41.

A heartfelt congratulations and our unadulterated thanks to Adam and Rhia. Everybody at Charity Wrestling Alliance is so proud of you. Sometimes words on a page or screen can sound hollow, mass produced and difficult to convey in their sincerest form, just know this is as heartfelt, unadulterated and sincere as it gets.  It is your hard work and dedication that has achieved this, you were the people that put your bodies and minds through agony and pushed yourselves to honour those charities and pay tribute to the reasons that made them personal.  Every step you took, every ache, pain, grimace and twinge, not just on the day but in training the months leading up to the race and during the recovery after, is a step of respect.  Some people will never be able to do what you have because of disability or illness, some will waste the ability they have and never try. Thank you for not wasting your ability, thank you for helping raise money and awareness for these charities, thank you for everything you have done.  Well done, be proud of what you have accomplished, like I said, we are proud of you.

Also a big congratulations and thank you to all 37,675 that finished the race and to those that took part.

A Hughmungus interview.

Joining me in this interview will be the mouth of the Big Cat Mafia, a mammoth of a man standing at 6’3 and weighing nearly 500lbs.  The mighty Hughmungus.

HUGH1

Welcome Hugh Mungus.

Now you only agreed to do this interview if there was an abundance of cheese made available for your consumption. So we have put together a selection of some of the worlds finest cheese. Bleu du Vercors-Sassenage (France) English Farmhouse Cheddar (England) Gruyère (Switzerland) Boerenkaas (Holland) along with others, so please enjoy.

Well you can start by taking all that foreign muck away. Just leave the cheddar. English cheese is strong and true, where as French cheese is soft, Swiss cheese has holes where more cheese should be and Dutch cheese can be used as squash balls.

I agree Mr Mungus, I wouldn’t  eat it either.  It’s all about  good British cheese.

You have been involved in wrestling for about 15 years, could you tell us how you got started ?.

No one would fight me in the boxing ring, I was banned from rugby and american football and I was not allowed to hit anyone in strongman competitions. So I had done a bit of wrestling when I was a kid and I thought I’d give Pro’ a go.

156180_431997910264059_913538211_n

You were trained by Andre Baker, Jon Ryan, Jon Ritchie and John Hall, that’s an impressive list of names. It would be impossible to put a value on that knowledge, but could you give us some idea of it’s value to you ?.

As you know Hammerlock has produced a lot of talented wrestlers. Ryan and Ritchie are the guys I learnt the most from. They knew how to focus my aggression. Andre was always there giving advice and John Hall is the finest shoot trainer in the land. Without these guys me and plenty of others would be nowhere.

It was on the first CWA show that you showed up with the Big Cat Mafia. Since then you have been heavily involved in a lot of peoples matches and have made it clear that you are targeting certain individuals such as Mountain Stew and Grant Mitchell.  What is your agenda ?.

1558501_431996703597513_1530792650_n

I have many young talented wrestlers with no real direction. What I’m doing is gathering them together and pointing out the way.  Now if that way means going through another wrestler or meddling official then so be it. I do not get involved in matches. I am just there advising my colleagues.  As for an Agenda. Simple, making each and every member of the B.C.M a champion in one promotion or another.

One person in particular you seem to have a big problem with is CWA president “Maddog” Kevin Richmond. I understand there is some history between you, Would you care to elaborate ?.

Me and Maddog used to be mates, hell we have even tagged together. But he has sold out pure and simple and it makes me sick.

10600480_10204613607123212_455010216407011200_n

So when your not interfering in matches and smashing skulls in the ring, what do you do with your time ?.

Interfering! The cheek of it. I spend my time promoting the B.C.M around the world. Looking for title shots for all the members. On Sundays you will find me in Gillingham passing on my knowledge to some new guys who may become members of the B.C.M if they get good enough.

British Wrestling is on the up big time right now but you’ve seen it rise and fall before. What is your opinion on the current British Wrestling boom ?.

Promotions are now working together which is a step in the right direction.  There are still some ego’s being a problem but it is getting better. What it needs now is a backer. Someone with the money to bring it all together and promote it big time.

So aside from your business with the Big Cat Mafia, what is next for Hughmungus ?.

Well I’ve had a few health issues over the last few years but I can now see a light at the end of the tunnel. So I just need to get some fitness back and I’ll be back in the ring for one last run.

Well I look forward to that very much.  Thank you for your time Sir, it has been an honour and a privilege to interview you.

Of course it’s an honour. Now get me some more cheese. And bring some crackers this time.

An Honest interview with Ernest Sterling

946537_526180910779477_1771429054_n

It is often said that Ernest Sterling is a con man with a fake smile and false words. However he has promised to give us a 100% Honest interview.

Hello Mr Sterling, thanks for joining me.

1. Firstly how do you feel about that opening statement ?

Well like I said this interview shall be 100% honest and from my heart. Now for you to ask me here to do this interview and say that to my face as an opening statement frankly appalls me. It doesn’t mention anything at all about what I do for this Business the time I put in or the sacrifices I have made personally and physically. My time is precious and you don’t want me to cut this short because it wouldn’t end well for you.

My apologies Mr Sterling, with that said let’s move onto some more respectful questions.

2. You are the assistant coach to Jon Ritchie at the famous Dropkixx Wrestling academy, how did you get involved in wrestling and what does it take to be a good coach?

This is true, now from what I am told I have been in love with the sport of wrestling since I was 1 and a half years of age. previous to wrestling I studied in various martial arts including judo and karate of which there are hints of it in my wrestling. I started pro wrestling at the age of 18 which is when I found Dropkixx. I fit like a glove there, because of my previous training the basics were very familiar to me and knowing how it feels to actually compete along with the strong shoot wrestling influence there just made it feel like home right away.

299781_187861484613652_4534849_n

3. You recently became the Lord Mount-Evans World Champion, which is the old World Of Sport style for those who don’t know. How important do you think it is to keep that style of wrestling in modern wrestling shows ?

To me it’s very important as I don’t see it as a Style, I see it as a part of the British culture.   There are many parts of the British culture that as a country we have lost but wrestling seems to be a massive thing that still remains and I plan on carrying on exhibiting it to the Great British public and also the world.

sterling

4. You have wrestled with or against Adam Mansfield on every CWA show, is there any match or moment that stands out to you ?

All of the matches I have! Have a moment worth remembering but for me the moments that stand out are the ones which as viewer I know that you know I am the smarter wrestler. For example our first match I out smarted Him. And I say him because I don’t have the patience for “him” anymore and I told you this. The second match where I out smarted him again. This time pretending to be on his side only to walk out on him and still gain a victory from that match. And the third is where I showed that in that ring even on my worst day he don’t even come close to the talent that is Sterling.

10668175_10152749813586095_341990920_n

5. Which wrestlers have influenced your wrestling style ?

Obviously Jon Ritchie is my only influence he brought me up in the business of wrestling and helped me obtain some of my smaller goals in wrestling, like wrestling in front of 600-700 people in Croydon fair field hall where I watched wrestling as a child. And put me in a position as to where I recently got he opportunity to wrestle on one of IPWs biggest shows of the year which featured some of the biggest names in international wrestling. He put me there.

6. You have been quite vocal on Twitter recently demanding a match with “a big fish”, so if you could have a match with any British wrestler, who would it be ?

Obviously I’d be stupid not to say the champ but personally not professionally I’d love the opportunity to wrestle Marty Scurll a Dropkixx graduate who I saw recently and so want to be in the kind of position he was in pretty much wrestling as a career.

7. What does the future hold for Ernest Sterling, Where do you see yourself in 5 years ?

Wow well in 5 years I’ll be 30 so hopefully I’ll have made something of myself in this crazy world of professional wrestling, made some history and gave a reason for people to remember me. As for my present its stay at the grindstone and snatch every booking and piece of sterling I can! We all got family’s to feed aye!

10668632_10152749813591095_1543411999_n

8. This has been a very interesting interview, thank you for taking the time to answer these questions and for being so Honest. Do you have any final words before we finish ?.

Well first I like to say thank you for this opportunity to let people know a little bit more about me. Hopefully they will understand next time I punch someone in the face there’s a good reason behind it. And if anyone is interested in booking me for shows I’m available on Twitter @HonestSterling or on Facebook as Ernest Sterling

“Lightning” Lewis Howley interview

He is the fastest and always the favorite  formerly known as Eddie Cornell as part of the  Cornells tag team, “Lightning” Lewis Howley is a young rookie with a tonne of potential out to make a name for himself.

lewis

Hi Lewis thanks for joining me.

Hi mate, its a pleasure

Tell us a bit about your background and how you got started in wrestling ?.

Well I’ve watched wrestling since I can remember watching T.V.  I used to play the one of the wwf games on ps1! so when I was 15 I started googling how to become a wrestler to which it said quite  simply that you need to go to a training school. so then I looked for one and it turned out that Dropkixx was just round the corner from me. so the next day I went down there. I was introduced to Jon and the guys down there.  I was put with Freddie which as you know is my old tag partner. I trained with him a lot and he helped me with a lot of things. I started when Dropkixx had the 24/7 facility in east Tilbury so I was just training as much as I could. I was training 3-4 sometimes even 5 times a week and during training I would just pick anyone’s brain who would listen to me I just wanted to learn so much and improve as fast as possible.  At first I was mainly learning amatuer with Ritchie and with Jon Owens because Jon always said the best way to be good at pro is to know how to wrestle for real.  I did that for probably 6 months then moved onto pro and so that’s how it all started really I couldn’t get enough since my first session.

45381_549350068438112_868768470_n

You had a good run as a tag team in your first couple of years but now your on your own. How does being a singles wrestler compare to your experience as a tag team ?

Tagging was great for me as I was teaming with Freddie who is one of my best mates we had some great matches and we won the Dropkixx tag titles which was really good for us.  It was great because it gives you that confidence when your starting off that if I balls up or panic I knew I could just tag Freddie in.  Luckily that didn’t happen too often but it was knowing I had the option if that really helped.  Then it got to a point where I had confidence in myself, I had a lot of confidence in the ring and I always set out to be a singles wrestler so unfortunately it just got to a point where it was time for me to start singles wrestling. of course there’s a big difference because now everything was on me and Freddie wasn’t there to help if something went wrong but luckily I settled into singles wrestling well and I’m really enjoying it.

Given your varied styles of wrestling, are you able to easily adapt to your opponents style ?.

Yeah I mean because of my variety it does make things easier. The handy thing about Dropkixx is that we are all trained by Jon and Luke so most of us wrestle similar to a certain extent so there isn’t much of problem there.  Though now I’ve started to to work on other shows there are people that work different but that just means a good experience to learn something so it’s great. But yeah I haven’t had any problems adapting yet.

10660926_10152749813596095_93715645_n

You have been on every CWA show, what are your most memorable matches or moments ?.

I have yeah, thanks again for that lol. They are all great memories the crowd and the workers are great.  The first match was cool, I specifically remember how I wasn’t even in the match yet I got
jumped on by both the Scotsmen! The second match was great Honest Ernest Sterling is always great to work with and Adam Mansfield is a legend so that was a great.   And of course working with Freddie was great because he was actually my very first match.  But in particular I remember the Docs picking on me and my big single leg suplex on Sterling which still amazes me now how I managed that lol! But I feel like I’ve really stepped up another level recently so I’m looking forward to future CWA shows.

58909_431997660264084_413416375_n

Who have been your main influences ?

Now that’s a tough one! Because at first my wrestling knowledge was limited so I was a fan boy who wanted to be like Rey Mysterio or Kofi Kingston! But of course the more understanding I got of wrestling things changed.  I’m still influenced by some of the big names but main influences would of course be Jon Ritchie because there’s not a trick in the book that guy doesn’t know! To be fair it’s gonna be hard to list all the people that have influenced me because it’s a long list!

I’m going to put you on the spot now, If you could pick any wrestler from the U.K to have a match with who would it be ?.

Ha now that’s even harder! There are so many guys I wanna wrestle! I’ve got a match with Jonny Storm coming up so that’s him excluded. I could probably narrow it down to Noam Dar, Marty Scurll and
El Ligero!

British wrestlers have different aspirations, most want to work for wwe or tna some want to work in Japan and Europe, some are happy to stay in the U.K and ply their trade. What are your
goals for the future ?

Hmm aspirations! I aspire to be the best because it’s the best mindset to have! I’d love to make it big in the UK I mean shows like Progress, PCW, ICW, IPW all of them the shows just look unbelievable and to be a regular part of them would be the dream! The American indies look unreal too but Japan takes it for me, it’s a whole different ball game over there, the crowds passion for the sport is ridiculous and some of the crowds they are pulling recently are wwe numbers! Which brings me to wwe,  As I kid it’s always the dream you know wanting to be a wwe superstar but I mean now you read stories about how the guys are treated etc etc but I mean there can’t be anything better than a wrestle mania moment!! So I mean yeah I just aspire to go as far as I can in wrestling. I want people to go home from shows and go “that Lewis was bloody amazing!” And I’m willing to do everything it takes to get there!

It’s been great talking to you as always, thank you for your time. Do you have anything else you would like to say to our readers before we finish ?.

No worries thank you too. Ermm yeah just thanks to any body who read this and on a separate note if any body has any advice or critique feel free to get in contact with me help is always
appreciated!.
